Hattie Hyei-Ri Ahn is a freelance violinist and violin teacher in Manhattan who is starting her second year studies for her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance at Stony Brook University. Ahn has extensive experience in performing contemporary and classical music and has been teaching professionally for the last eight years. Born in Seoul, South Korea but raised in Fort Worth, Texas, she began playing the violin at the age of nine. Her passions lie in teaching, contemporary music, and orchestral playing.

Ahn received her first Master of Music degree in violin performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of the former Minnesota Orchestra Concertmaster, Jorja Fleezanis, a second MM degree in Contemporary Performance at Manhattan School of Music and her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory. Her past instructors include Milan Vitek, Curtis Macomber, Mimi Zweig, and Hal Grossman. Ahn performs on a violin by Antonio Sgarbi, 1902, on generous loan from the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation.

Hattie performs Bach’s Violin Solo Sonata No.2 in A minor - IV. Allegro
