Born in Shanghai, China, Li Pang began her cello studies at the age of seven. After studying at Shanghai Conservatory of Music (High School Division), Li came to New York to begin her studies at Manhattan School of Music in 2013.

Li has served as a substitute cellist at the Shanghai Philharmonic. She has also performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall and Kaufman Music Center. She has given performances in the United States, Asia and Europe as a soloist, as well as chamber ensemble and orchestra musician. Li has received training from Bonnie Hampton, Jonathan Manson, Hillel Zori, Martti Rousi, Morten Zeuthen, David Geber, Alan Stenpansky, Jonathan Spitz, and Rebecca Gilliver.

Li graduated from Manhattan School of Music with both Bachelor and Master degrees, where she studied with Julia Lichten. Li earned her Professional Studies Certification at Manhattan School of Music as an Orchestral Performance cellist in 2020. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Rutgers University. Li holds a section cello position at the Grammy winning Albany Symphony Orchestra since 2021.
